Hi guys hoping someone can help???
I had applied for asylum not sure of the exact dates. Been in and out the courts trying to fight the refusal due to medical grounds. Cut a long story short, I changed solicitors and in 2010 I was granted DL.
My app was due for renewal in Sep 2013 so after calling the HO and being advised to use app DL I did and submitted the app.
I had no communication from the HO with regards to my app being received so I called over 2 1/2 months later where it was confirmed they have logged my docs in.
Now my question:
After reading posts I'm not sure if I used the right form for renewal as people are using FLR(O) but as I applied for asylum and the claim was rejected then after medical issues and fighting this decision with a new solicitor I was granted DL.
Did I use the right form as I don't know on what grounds the DL was granted?
My app is currently in the HO my worry is if they reject the claim and state I used the wrong form since I applied before my visa expired will I be able to re submit the right form and pay the fee if that is their reason for refusal???

If you applied for asylum and is was refused but you were granted DLR on humanitarian grounds then that would be the right form.

Hi amber
Thanks!! I'm just a little stressed as I say not hearing back from the HO is very stressful. I got my MP involved to ask for the letter of acknowledgment. Once I get more info I will post just incase there is someone out there in the same situation. It really helps to have people to talk who have been or are going through the same situation.

Waiting 6 months is not uncommon, should be sooner for an extension.

I would avoid that as the route to settlement would be an additional 5 years with a financial and language requirement.

I did see someone who was granted an extension in 5 weeks recently but you can wait 6+ months.

Hi Amber
Thank you for the response. I suppose it's just a waiting game as I am nearing three months on the 8 November and not a word from them. When I applied for asylum in 2009 I got a biometrics card so I sent the card with my renewal application so maybe that's why I haven't been sent a letter to do my biometrics.
But still, I should have by now received my acknowledgement letter. I got in contact with my MP and the contacted the HO on my behalf two weeks ago and they have still not had a response. I'm keeping positive as I'm lucky I have all my family settled here so that's one good thing having family support during these times.
