General visitor or Family visitor for my mum

Post by imitskavets » Sat Jan 11, 2014 3:32 pm

Hi all,

I know this is a topic that's come up multiple times in the past, but given that rules are getting tougher, I was wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with inviting an older relative (mum or dad etc) to visit them in the UK? Is there are sense that it's easier to obtain a general visitor visa or a family visitor visa (I can wait until I apply for my ILR)? My mum is retired, so the only source of income is her pension. She owns a flat, but will be almost 100% financially dependent on me when she comes to stay. She doesn't have any family ties back home. What do you reckon are the chances of refusal, even if I provide all the necessary documentation to prove I can support her whilst she is visiting me in the UK?

Thank you!

No.

It's a random guess. That's as good as anyone can guess without going through every document, circumstance and situation you have.

It's a bit like asking what the chance are of it being partly cloudy at precisely 6:45pm tomorrow ... someone with access to all the relevant data will be able to say reasonably accurately ... someone without can't.

Thank you for your response! I guess the best course of action is just to apply and hope for the best.

Ties with home country = own flat and income through pension. Do ensure she submits these documents.
