Passport/Visa Question

Post by blakeb81 » Mon Jul 02, 2007 3:59 am

I am a U.S. citizen who will be taking a trip to Europe soon. I will land in U.K. which is not a Schegen country and then rent a car and travel over to France which is a Schegen country. Will I be able to do this with a Passport only or do I also need a Visa or something more? Thanks.

U.S. citizens do not require visas for stays in the UK that are less than 6 months long, and they also do not require visas in the Schengen space (which includes France) for stays less than 90 days.

So the answer to your question is no, as a U.S. citizen you do not require any visa for tourist visits to the UK or the Schengen countries.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
