Filled wrong income Band in HSMP form

Hi,

I just realized today that I have filled wrong band under HSMP previous earning category.

Country Code: A (Its correct since I work in UK)
Income Band: A (I should have provided 32,000+)
Amount Earned: £32,xxx (I have provided the salary for the year)
Country Income Earned: UK

To err is human!!! Please suggest what next

I have submitted all the documents like P60, Original Pay slips, Bank Statements, Letter from employer. I have provided the 32,000+ figure in my covering letter and the explanation documents. Also I have provided a separate covering letter for previous earnings where I have explained my earnings.

Do I write to them and tell them about the correction, the fee has been debited from my account so hopefully someone will start working on the case pretty soon

You can send an explanatory fax to the HSMP Team [use the number indicated for urgent treatment requests] and ask for your fax to be added to your file so that it can be considered by the caseworker once a caseworker is assigned to review your application.

If I were you, I would phone the HSMP Team 2 business days after you have sent the fax and confirm that the fax was added to your file.

Thanks for the information. As far as the correction goes do I send only the revelant page of correction, i.e, Page 6, or entire 15 pages HSMP form?

I plan to post it tomorrow since I am applying from UK. Also I sent the colored printout of the scanned copy of the employer's letter. Today I received the original copy by post and I would like to add it to my file.

I do not have any reference number as the amount was debited today. Is it wise to post the new documents without any reference number and ask them to add the changes to my existing file?

Q.31 is confusing.

It should be Income Level, not Income Band.

As per hsmp guidance, there are five income bands set by HM treasury.

One can only assume Band A,B,C,D,E

Better to mention both Income Band & Income Level.

That brings me back to original question what do I fill for Question 31, Band A or £ 32,000 +

I have written a covering letter stating the changes. If I get a confirmation from you guys I will go ahead.

I personally wrote £32,000+ as my answer to Q.31 and the information was accepted in that format.

I would not send new information on individual pages selected from the actual application form. My reasoning is that If you change the content of the application by asking for one page to be removed and a corrected page substituted, you may compromise the integrity of the whole thing. Thus, regarding any question for which I wanted to provide a correction, I would go with just a covering letter that says, 'On page whatever of the Application Form, in response to Q.#, I wrote, "whatever." I realise now that I should have written whatever else in that field. Please consider whatever else to be my answer to Q.# as you review my application. My apologies for any inconvenience that this correction may cause."

If you decide to send the fax before you have your Ref. #, be sure to include your name, date of birth, country of citizenship, correspondence address, and contact e-mails/fax/phone numbers as you indicated in your application form. (Also indicate all these personal details even if you send the fax *with* your Ref. # on it!)

Regarding whether to send the fax before you have your Ref. # and whether my advice above is good for your situation, you could of course phone the HSMP helpline tomorrow (Tues.) and ask for their input. That is what they are paid for.....

That was an excellent piece of suggestion.
I have made changes as per your suggestion and included the changes only in the cover letter instead of sending page 6. Unfortunately I cannot fax it since I also need to send the original copy of employer's letter.

On a final note, lesson learnt, I must read the questions twice before answering. Clarfiy when in doubt

You can add in letters that you'd appreciate the caseworker credit the appropriate points that the evidence supports so that if it is higher, then you get it. In general, caseworkers are supposed to credit you the right amount even if you claim a lower amount according to their guidelines.
