Visit Visa Extension - FLR(O) - probability ?

Post by bmad » Sun Jan 26, 2014 8:01 pm

Hi,
I have been browsing the forum and I must say that there is some good help in there.
I was wondering if I can get some input from you guys.
My mum(67 year old widow) is on a visit visa in the UK. Her 6 months are expiring mid feb.
She suffers from medical condition (parkinsons, epilepsy, hypertension and diabetes). I have got it checked by the local GP and got it in writing as well that she cannot live and travel unaccompanied.
The other problem is that there is no one back home as my other sibling (sister) lives in dubai with husband and kids. We don’t really have any close relative as my mum’s brothers and sisters live in USA and UK as well.
Me and my wife (both British ) moved abroad to live with her however, we have started jobs back in UK and she came with us six months back. It is not possible for any of us to travel and live with her as we have recently started our jobs here.
SO the question is…. Can she apply for visa extension on the basis of discretionary leave to remain in UK with us ?
Which article does she fall under. 8 or 3 or both as her family life is here and she had medical condition that prevent her from traveling and living alone!
Would appreciate any suggestions.
Cheers
‘mad

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
In order to apply for Dependent Visa for Elderly, it says that you have to apply from outside the UK. Also aparently browsing through the forum it appears to be very hard to satisfy the criteria!
Therefore, I was thinking of applying for extension in her visa based on her medical condition and the fact that she cannot live all by her self there and has her life with her son and his wife.
Do you think its worth applying for discretionary leave ?
any suggestions ...options will be appreciated.
Cheers

You could try but it's not easy.

Hi

I am on same boat like you were in 2014 regarding your mom visa case so that's why asking what happened in your mother case? Is she got it FLR(o) visa?

Plz share your experience.

Thanks bro
