Unique Problem

Post by flamenco » Tue Jul 03, 2007 3:14 pm

Dear Forum Members

I got my hsmp application approved in March 2007. Now my problem is that I was made redundant while my application was under process. Now I have to apply for EC. Should I mention in VAF1 about the fact that I am no longer working with my previous employer? Would the fact that I am not working while my EC application is under process is going to effect the decision on my EC application? Would the Embassy check it with my ex-employer? Please advise as I am planning to apply for EC next week. Thanks

I dont think there would be any problem with the EC application. I am a student right now and got my HSMP approval recently... So effectively, even I am not working as of now.

You should however, make your situation clear in the cover letter. The only problem could be - meeting the earnings criteria given that the 15 month period shall be counted from now (?).

Do you really think meeting earning creteria at EC stage should be a problem? since earning is related to the period when I was actually working and that was the 12 months period which I mentioned in my HSMP application. Would the ECO be concerned with the earning related to the period after the 12 months that related to HSMP application?

Sorry,

I stand corrected. Caseworker would look at the earning documents that you submitted at the time of original HSMP approval.

Can anyone else please put some light on this issue? I am about to send my EC application now. I am however, confused about the outcome of the application due to this redundancy issue and the verification process to be carried out by the british high commission with my ex-employer. If anyone has similiar experience, please share the outcome of EC application...Thanks
