Follow Up: EC *not* suspended (not in the US at least)

Post by apeterso925 » Fri Jul 06, 2007 1:01 pm

All,

I thought I would let the forum know that contrary to the post made the other day by someone, that they had insider information that EC has been suspended, that does not appear to be true - at least not in the US.

The NY consulate received my application on Tuesday and I got an email late yesterday that it had arrived safely and was under review...and I am confident that if all applications were on hold, the email would have said as much.

The consulate isn't working nearly as quickly as I'd like ;) But they do seem to be processing current applications. I had discarded my old (damaged) passport and included an explanation to that effect (and had the number but not a copy), so that may cause a delay.

I was told in the email that I should know (again via email) of the outcome by Wednesday or Thursday, so I'll let everyone know! :D

The wording was actually that I would be notified "when this visa is approved," but I am trying not to count my chickens until they're hatched!

Exactly :D I very much appreciated that slight distinction!

I had posted the message regarding the supposed suspension of EC processing (I had subsequently withdrawn the message because I could not substantiate the claim & it could have caused a lot of panic).

I am not trying to draw any conclusions here but the fact is despite applying on 28th (and another candidate on 27th) the employer/university have not been contacted by Integra.......

Hope things are moving (and moving in the right direction for all of us)

That's why I clarified that I could only speak to the approval process here in the US.

I can only imagine how stressful it must be to just be in limbo, and I know that some members of this board have been quite critical of the HO and this entire process, *however*, I will tell you that I have found the process to be extremely (even surprisingly) organized and efficient. Let's not forget that government agencies, worldwide, are not generally known for their simplicity!

I've actually been rather amused at how much more pleasant and organized the HO has been than I've experienced with my own government (I could go into a lengthy digression about an extremely rude letter I just received from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles due to their misplacement of my insurance documentation, but I won't ;) ).

Suspending EC, even if it were only impacting certain countries, seems like it would be a major decision, accompanied by a very public announcement.

So it seems a safe assumption that they are just backlogged...I highly, highly doubt that if they were putting all approvals on hold, that they would do so by giving applicants the silent treatment.

I completely agree with you apeterso925. Even I am of the opinion that suspension of EC processing (even on a temporary basis) is too big a decision and would definitely warrant some kind of official communication to this effect.

At the same time... any delays/ lack of any communication/ or absence of movement (on verification process) plays havoc with ones nerves... and hence such reactions...
