How to get an extension for a fiance visa

My son just moved to London from the US on a fiance visa. I am writing this for him because he's waiting to get his internet connection hooked up. He and his girlfriend want to get married on Holloween, October 31st but his visa runs out on October 26th. This date has meaning for them. Is there anyway to get an extension so they can bet married on that date and then apply for the marriage visa. How long would the extension be for?

Who do they contact. Do they have to fill out a lot of paperwork that includes showing how they will support themselves during the process. How long does it take. The Fiance Visa took 9 months and a lawyer. They can't afford a great deal of time or money for an extension. What are the chances of getting the extension. Is there anywhere on line that shows how to apply and what is involved in the process.

Extensions are sometimes granted but only for good and pressing reasons, I don't think a special date is a good enough reason. They could try tho, and stay in UK under section 3, which means their old visa continues while the HO consider the new one. I'd imagine it's perfectly fine to marry then but for me their is an air of something wrong with this plan, I wouldn't do it.

Your son can't escape the cost however, it's form FLR(O) I think, 400 quid or so. His Fiancee will have to show she can support him etc, same as for the previous visa. Site is http://bia.homeoffice.gov.uk

I'd check this or wait for others, sth doesn't sound right with what I've said, but I'm sure a friend of mine and his Ukrainian now-wife did this, when his divorce was slow in coming through.

Of course it would be easier if he married her asap, then he could apply on FLR(M) and work to pay the visa costs, and start the road to ILR and BC if he wants it.

Just to offer another suggestion...

What about having a simple registry office marriage and a larger celebration on the special date? There are many couples that have done this. And the £400 could be spent on a great party rather than a visa extension

Well I wouldn't do this but you can submit for a spouse visa before you get married and send the followup documents afterwards.
