Help! I need advice on nutralization please.

Hi all,

Im hoping someone can help me with some answers.I have been married to my husband who is a British citizen for 6 1/2 years now and lived in the UK for 13 years.We now decided its time to apply for British citizenship.I have been working on and off.( Due to having children - 6 year gap).Im currently a house wife.I have spoken to the nationality checking service and they say I need an indefinate leave to remain card or have to be exercising treaty rights (Im an EU member) in order to apply for citizenship.Now in my opinion I have been excercising treaty rights because I dont claim any benefits (except child tax) and my husband is in full time employment.I have been trying to get through to the Home Office but no joy.Can someone tell me what i need in order to be neutralized as a British citizen?

This from the UKBA guidance on EEA national applying for BC.
'If you are a national of a member state of the EEA and do not have indefinite leave to
remain in the United Kingdom, you will need to have been resident in the United Kingdom
for at least five years even if you are married to a British citizen.'

To meet the requirement to 'exercise your treaty rights' throughout this time you should be able to show one of the following: (note, self sufficiency requires you to hold private medical insurance throughout the qualifying period)
Workers – this includes:
• Job seekers
• Those between jobs (for example, women who have ceased employment on becoming
pregnant but who intend to resume employment at some point after the birth)
• Those undergoing training in their own or another field
• Sick, injured and retired workers
Self-employed/Business persons
Students
Self-sufficient persons
Retired persons

The NCS have given you correct advice.
