Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 General from India

Hello All,

I have been in the UK since August 2010 on tier 2 ICT visa,Now i have got the new job in and the employer is ready to sponsor me the Tier 2 General Visa.

I have resigned to current job and i have to travel back to india to serve notice period and to complete the relieving process.


Here my question is "Can i apply for Tier 2 General Visa from india?" or "Any Restrictions(Cooling Off)?"

And what are all the precautions i should take?

you could switch from T2 ICT to T2G in-country but if you apply for entry clearance from India you can only do so 12 months after you left the UK (cooling-off)

Could you please let me know answer for below query as well?

I have been in Tier 2 ICT Visa since August 2010 and now i resigned to the employer and i will be relieved by the employer by 1st week of March.

Now it may take few more weeks to get the new Cos with new employer since they have to complete RLMT process.

So here my question is can i stay in the UK until i get new Cos or my Visa will be cancelled once i relieved from my existing employer?

When your employment is terminated in March the sponsor has to report this to the HO within 10 days. Your leave will be curtailed to 60 days from the date of the HO decision (not the date of termination).

If you plan to switch in-country the new sponsor can start the RLMT process any time (RLMTs are valid for 6 months)

Can i travel to India and come back during the 60 days curtailed period?

the 60 days are from the date UKBA make the curtailment decision, not the date of termnination

Hi Manci,

I will be traveling back to india to resign and serve notice period 1 month and to complete the relieving process ( my employer asking me to travel back )
my current leave is valid until august 2014.

Can i re-enter in 2 weeks time and switch from uk or is my leave will be invalid ( cooling off period)
