Tier 2 (G) holder marrying another Tier 2 (G) holder

Post by timomat » Fri Jun 22, 2012 2:59 pm

Hello,

My husband-to-be and I, both are currently Tier-2 (General) visa holders (with separate sponsors) and are planning to get married next month. We would like to carry on with our respective Tier-2 General visas after being married (rather than one of us switching to a dependent visa).

My queries are:

1). Is it even possible (in the first place) to get married and not be a dependant as far as UKBA / visas are concerned?

2). Is it okay to keep on using Tier2 G visas (v/s dependent)? Are there any drawbacks / limitations in doing so?

3). Do we need to update UKBA about our marital status if there is no change in our name or dependants? We are getting married in US, so do we need to send proof of marriage to UKBA?

Thanks a lot guys.

Timo
