Tier 1 visa along with passport lost

Hi - this is for a friend who is stuck in India now.

He had a tier 1 general visa issued in dec 2009. Now in his last visit to India he lost the passport containing visa.

What should he do now/documents/process to follow as tier1 visas are not issued outside UK?

In case of lost passport/visa you should not need to apply for a new visa. I think your friend should contact the indian passport office for reissuance of lost passport and contact the British High commision for the tier 1 - they should have the details and should be able to guide him/ reissuee lost visa.

Once your friend gets a new passport he should apply for REPLACEMENT (REISSUE) VISA. You may search on this forum for more details..
