English Language Test Israeli Fiance - IELTS alternative

Post by WonderBread » Sun Jan 12, 2014 7:58 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to find a an english test for my girlfriend to take in israel so we can apply for a fiance visa.

The minimum level for a fiance visa is A1 standard and Im confident she can pass at this level, however Im having trouble finding an A1 level test she can take in Israel.

Cambridge tests dont seem to be available in Israel.

Pearson is another awards body that apparently is accepted and they do have tests in Israel but when I looked on their site it said in bold lettering 'Please note that PTE General is not accepted by the UKBA for spouse/partner/family visa purposes' and I believe this refers to the test I was hoping she could take.

The final option I found is to take an IELTS test via the British Council in Tel Aviv. However, if you look at this image (https://www.ielts.org/images/cefr2011a.jpg) you will see that the lowest grade for an IELTS test is the equivalent of A2 level, one level higher than what is required.

My concern is that although I believe my girlfriend will definitely pass at A1 level Im worried she might not be so succesful achieving an A2 equivalent to get the IELTS certificate.

I just want her to sit a standard A1 test in Israel, thats all im asking!

Sam : )

Her english is okay but far from perfect
