getting married AFTER child's birth?

Post by keiratomm » Wed Feb 05, 2014 2:56 pm

My partner is British (otherwise than by descent) and I am a EU citizen. At the time of the child's birth (before 2006) we were not married, but we intend to register our marriage now.
Would the registration of the marriage make the child automatically British? Or would we still need to apply to the HO for registration of the child as a British citizen?

I would also be grateful if someone could confirm or refute this information:
the second child born after 2006 is British already and all we need to do it to apply for a passport for him.
Is this correct?

Thank you for your help!
