Tier 2 General Restricted COS

Post by venkat123 » Thu May 08, 2014 11:25 am

Hi Manci,

I came to the UK from India on Tier 2 General Restricted COS during 2012 Dec. I have the below queries and need your assistance on better understanding.

1. My employer who sponsored my Visa from India says, i can't change b/w different clients with in UK even if my skillset matches. Can you please let me know why is that?

2. Will i be eligible to transfer my sponsorship to a different sponsor if i find any and do any contract jobs?

3. Am i eligible for ILR after 5yrs in my Tier 2 General Restricted Visa?

4. What does Tier 2 General Restrcited / Unrestrcited means? I get different answers for this and there is no clear definition.

Thanks,

1 you can change sponsors any time you want. You will however need a new COS and employer will need to do RLMT if the job is not on shortage list.
2. you can change sponsors but you cant do contrat jobs. You can do contract job with one emlyer at a time who will need to sponsor you. ( contract jobs in uk means something specific which you may or may not be aware of).

3. yes if your salary is above 35k or your job is on shortage list.

4. General rule is Cos issued to people who are already in uk are unrestructed and who are outside uk are restricted. However there are some exceptions .
