temporary work visa as a bartender/waitress?

I'm an American looking to live in Toronto for about a year. (I went to school in Montreal and I'm eventually going to look to apply to graduate schools in Canada.) I'm not totally sure what the HRSDC confirmation would consider a “positive labour market opinion.â€
