I will tell you my story and circumstances and ask a few questions, hopefully someone will be able to help.
I was married for 15 years, after the split i decided to take a trip of a lifetime, my trip took me to Thailand, Cambodia and Australia.
To cut a long story short, whilst in Thailand I met someone, her name is Kanjanik, she was working in a restaurant as a cook.
I ended up spending most of my year in Thailand and became very close, I did intend to stay living in Thailand, but it was not easy for me to stay living there due to visa's.
I would like to Bring Kanjanik to the UK, which I thought would be easier than it is, how wrong I was.
Kanjanik has a daughter and had her own business in Bangkok, when this business failed she was forced to give up her daughter to her ex boyfreind as she could no longer support herself and her daughter. Her ex is a UK citezen as her daughter is now.
She give her daughter up at age 8, she is now 12. Her ex has taken their daughter to visit Thailand and Kanjanik has been to the Uk. She is in constant contact with her daughter via Skype and Facebook and wants to come to the UK to be close to her daughter.
After looking into a Visa for Kanjanik, I advised her to apply to join a family member in the UK as she seemed to have more chance getting a visa being a parent.
your family member can be a
British citizen
settled in UK..
Come to look after a child.
Child must be under 18
Child lives with another parent who is British and not your partner
Kanjanik has access rights to her daughter.
As I understand Kanjanik can come here for 2 and a half years and is able to work to support herself.
Kanjanik has just completed an English test, waiting for results.
As I understand she will need a TB test and have to have id and fingerprints confirmed at a test centre in Bangkok after applying for a visa.
1...My first question is, How can she prove she can support herself?
2...Will a job offer cover this?
3...What details will the job offer have to contain?
4...Would £5000 in her bank account be good enough if she intends to work when she arrives?
5...Should we mention our relationship or would this hinder her application?
6...Do we need a solicitor to represent her application or manage ourselves?
I can not sponsor her as I have just returned to UK and I would need to be working for 6 months to qualify as a sponsor.
I can provide an address for her to live at. I also intend to start a business for Kanjanik selling Thai food at events.
Look forward to replies, thanks in advance...
