Family Visitor Visa

Post by Chikky » Tue Jan 13, 2015 8:40 am

Hi,

I am planning to bring my mother to UK for 6 months on a family visitor visa. I am naturalized British Citizen and settled in UK.

I had few questions:
1. Do i need to book her air tickets before applying for the visa? do i need to submit air tickets for visa application?
2. What is the minimum fund requirement do i need to show in my bank account?
3. The UK government website says that all documents including original documents needs to be submitted. Do i need to send MY original salary slips, my original bank statements and my original passport for my mothers application?

Thanks
Chikky

Hi there,

From what I understand:

1. It is recommended that you do not book any airline tickets prior to the Visa being granted. I remember reading this on their website sometime last year. The last thing you want is to have wasted money on tickets if the visa is not granted.

2. Somebody else may be able to answer this better however I believe there is no specific number in terms of the funds you need to have. You need to be able to prove that you will be able to cover the costs for the duration of her stay.

3. Original payslips will be required along with original bank statements. DO NOT send you passport. Get a good quality Photocopy of you passport and get it stamped from a solicitor to prove that the photocopy is an exact copy of the original. They will probably charge you £1 per page.
