International student applying for HSMP

Hi, I am currently holding a SEGS visa and have been working for almost a year after completing my bachelor degree in the UK. I will become a student this Sep for a master course (have got student visa to cover this). Can any one answer my questions below:

1, I am going to apply for HSMP during the master course, can I use my uk bechelor degree to gain 30 points? or I have to wait till my master course finishes and use this degree to gain 35 points?

2, I saw a document on HO website saying that"
The process for those currently living in the UK under another capacity and who wish to switch into the HSMP provisions – applying for leave to remain
You may make a HSMP application whilst in the United Kingdom if you are currently here under one of the following categories:
Students who have obtained a degree qualification during their current period of leave in the UK on a recognised degree course at..."

Is it talking about leave to remain or acutally HSMP application? If it is about leave to remain, it seems that I have to finish my master course before I make an application for leave to remain, is that right?

3, Can I use the earnings during the SEGS visa period (09/06 - 09/07) to gain points when I am a master student who applies for HSMP (if possible)

Any other information regarding switching students visa to HSMP would be much appreciated.

Hi, sorry don't have any answers only more questions. If you qualify for HSMP now why not do it now instead of later? Does anyone know how the new tier system will affect people who qualify under the current system.

I have only answer to your 3rd question.

.You can use the earning period during the SEGS visa period even after you moved back to Student visa after SEGS. I have got my approval after my SEGS.

For other 2 questions, I would like some senior members to answer on that. Heres what I think.
I don't see any problem applying for HSMP on the basis of your UK bachelors degree while you are studying for masters. But only confusing part is when you will apply FLR(HSMP) to change your student visa to HSMP while you still studying for master and not finished it. May be after getting approval you can request your university to change your full time student course to part time and if they agree to it on the condition that if your HSMP FLR approved you change the course to parttime or postpond it, you can proceed with FLR(HSMP).
But I would like some senior member to give answer to your q#1 and q#2.

Yes I agree with Constant. If you qualify, why dont you apply now and get it done before mid september. Average waiting time for approval is 20-25 days.

I have got the student visa which has started in July, my SEGS visa will expire on 30th October though...

The problem is if I apply for HSMP now, it seems I am actually switching from SEGS into HSMP. What would happen to my student visa - is it withdrawn or still valid? Am I allowed to be a student by holding a HSMP visa? A master course normally takes at least 1 year to finish, so I will have at most 1 year earnings before I make the renewal which seems tricky

Things would be much more complicated if I do so I think...

So apply now and if you are lucky and get your HSMP approved, you may withdraw from your course. In this case university might take some of your fee and will refund the rest of fee. check university student guide for your university withdraw policies.
