machine readable passports India

Post by chunkybeefsoup » Wed Mar 04, 2015 11:38 am

My mum is in the process of renewing her Indian passport as hers is not machine readable which has to be done by Nov 2015

according to consulate.

On her current passport her dob is just written as 1946.

She has been told that on renewing they will add the date of birth as 1/1/1946 on the new passport. Is this correct?

She will have the problem of her existing passport with ILR stamp having dob as 1946 and her new passport dob as 1/1/1946 which does not match. I understand that as it stands she may problems travelling due DOB's not matching.

Is there anything she can do about this to rectify the problem?

Regards

In her old passport her DOB is 1946

In her new passport her DOB will be 01/01/1946

As far as my research goes 01/01/1946 is still tehnically 1946.

First date of 1946 was 01/01/1946, and the last date of 1946 was 31/12/1946, and all the dates/days in between all fall within 1946.

The problem is UK immigration will not see it as such and query the different DOB's in the old passport (one with the ILR stamp) and new passport and refuse entry even though she has been in the UK over 50 years.
