Citizenship For Newborn Daughter

Post by Navaro2 » Sat Jun 21, 2014 12:13 pm

Hell!

I am UK resident and I have been living here for more than 6 years now. Before I was EEA resident.

I just would like to find out about if we have to apply for British citizenship for my new daughter or what are the procedures?

My wife is from Ukraine but she has EEA residence card for 5 years at the moment.

Thanks for information and advice

Where and when was your child born?

British passport for my baby born in UK

Post by Navaro2 » Sun Apr 26, 2015 10:47 pm

Hi!
We have a 2 months old daughter born in the UK.My wife has EEA visa for 5 years as She is from Ukraine and I have become a permanent resident of UK since 2013 and I received a letter together with my residence card saying that my kids born in UK will automatically become British.
I would like to apply for a British passport for my daughter and I am confused what I should start with???
I should apply for her British citizenship first and then for her passport or stright for passport without applying for her citizenship.
Can someone help me to make it clear as I don't really know :?:

I'm assuming that she was born after you received the letter.

As the letter confirms that your kids born in UK will automatically become British, they may apply for British passports directly.

Yes she was born after I received my permanent residence with that letter.

The application for her passport contains the field to be filled in about both parents nationality:
"Nationality of parent at the time of the child's birth or if they have British passport number"
So if we both put polish and ukraine then should not be a problem and then I should send this letter or copy or my resident card only?

Should be okay, use Passport Check & Send if unsure.
Being British is a state of mind.
