New citizenship form UKF

Post by paul29 » Wed May 06, 2015 5:01 pm

Hi

Firstly, apologies for my first post being a new topic but I couldn't find any threads concerning the new UKF form (Application for registration as a British citizen by a person born before 1 July 2006 whose parents were not married)

I submitted a citizenship application for my daughter a couple of weeks ago on this form and the NCS office that I used said it was the first one that they had seen which surprised me as the form had been live for about 2 weeks at that point.

The document tracking number shows my application arrived safely at its destination 2 weeks ago, and whilst I know that it is way too early to expect any meaningful follow up communication I couldn't help but wonder if anybody else was going this route and was in a similar or hopefully more advanced position?

Thanks for highlighting this, I had no idea there was even such a form or process. Therefore, I doubt you would find many people who have applied or in the same situation if it is so new.

Applications take a couple of months and there might be a bit of a backlog with a rush to submit normal citizenship forms prior to the fee increase on 6th April.

I had included the legislative change (from 06 April 2015) on the updates page which is available here - http://www.immigrationboards.com/genera ... 81908.html

Thanks Amber, I am still in the process of going through all the changes to fully understand and has missed that point. Will review and familiarise myself.

I know Char, there are so many changes, it's difficult to try and keep up-to-date, I've created an updates section to try and keep on top.

I just filed my UKF form earlier this month also. It's been over 3 weeks and they haven't deducted the fee or acknowledged receipt yet which doesn't seem to bode well for the time it will take to actually process the application. I had filed originally with form AN and they told me I had to use the new UKF form (sent back all my materials for me to just post them right back to them) so you'd think it would be more popular now that it just went into effect

There is likely a backlog as there would have been a rush of applications on Form AN before the fee increase on 6th April.

Surprisingly, form UKM applications are not actually that common or frequent on the forum and I guess not many people who would qualify know about it. My mothers application took 2 months last year but you might wait a bit longer.

I lodged my application (which was under section 4G) through NCS on 23rd April and it was received by the Home Office on 27th April which as at end of yesterday is still only 18 working days by my calculations..... although of course it 'feels' longer.

To date the fee has not been debited but as section 4G applications do not carry any application fee just an £80 ceremony fee, I half wonder if my application won't follow the same pattern as MN1 applications where the fee is debited before work starts on reviewing the application but that is just speculation on my part as I have not read anything anywhere that supports it.

I also haven't received any form of acknowledgement yet, but as I am in Thailand and communication will be sent here, I am not really surprised about that. Just have to sit patiently and wait for now hoping that "no news" means at least they haven't rejected it.......yet.

To clarify:

Form UKF = Application for registration as a British citizen by a person born before 1 July 2006 whose parents were not married

Form UKM = Application for registration as a British citizen by a person born before 1983 to a British mother

Apologies, typed the wrong form name. Similarly though, UKF is a new form, timelines not available as yet, but suspect they might possibly run the same processing time as UKM and MN1.

Hopefully it will not be a long wait for you.

Ah! Good point about the fact that there isn't an application fee, just the citizenship ceremony fee. That would make sense for them to not charge upon receipt, but upon processing. I did find somewhere a note that they aim to be acknowledging receipt within 4 weeks, but perhaps that's more for other papers and not UKM or UKF. Seems an easy application to approve to me, so hopefully we all get our papers soon!

Please keep an eye on March 2015, April 2015 and May 2015 timelines to get an idea.

For both of you - I applied using UKM form, and it was delivered to UKVI Liverpool by courier 22 April, and I have had zero communication/acknowledgement from them.

That's the truth, including the Embassy in my home Country who said I am not entitled to anything. Years later I stumble across the UKM form by accident.

Even the eligibility "calculator" on the UKVI Website doesn't acknowledge children born to a British mother Prior 83.

Has anyone had an update with their UKF submission? I'm at 9 weeks and they haven't even sent an acknowledgement by email or post. I tried contacting the further nationality enquiries email (that they themselves say to contact if you haven't heard anything after 8 weeks) and I've gotten no response. :(

Oh geez! Good for you!!! However that makes me worried as to why mine is taking so long. 9 weeks without a peep, no fee deduction nothing

Don't worry bfrenchfry, I am still in exactly the same position as you plus also, Yanni's timeline looks a bit off to me.

On 3rd June he posted
Yanni wrote:just wanted to if anyone as done the UKF form 'registering as a British citizen' an got a response. been 3 weeks still ain't got an acknowledgement letter.
3 weeks on 3rd June isn't 4 weeks on 29th June !

My App was sent back as my representative forgot to add the method of payment in the App. So that is why I don't count the weeks before it was sent back.

Hello everyone,

I have sent my UKF app form to the UKVI Department 1 on 29 June 2015. It was delivered to their front desk at 2:55 pm local time. I have used the initial UKF form that was provided a week before the 6 April commencement. I just have known yesterday that there was an updated UKF form, the only difference is that it has a "consent" part added for applicants age under 16 right after the "declaration" part .

Being so, like you everyone, I have been waiting for an acknowledgment from them. Although the UKF guide states that there will be a 2 to 4 weeks window period before they will send an acknowledgment through e-mail right after they have created a computer file/record of our application.

Nevertheless I am still hoping that I will receive an acknowledgment from them sooner than the period that was stated. Let's just hope (and pray) that we get what we rightfully deserve.

Am 28 yrs old
Sent the app form from the P.I
Father is British
Mother is a Filipino

Thanks for the info Yanni.

There is a real lack of information or feedback available concerning these UKF applications and you are the first that we are aware of that has even had fees deducted from their bank so that is progress and congratulations I and I am sure all others with pending applications really appreciate your update.

If possible please could you give us some more meat on the bones?

You mention a "representative"? Did you use NCS or a lawyer or some other third party?

Did the Home Office communicate with you directly about the missing payment form or did they communicate with the representative?

And I appreciate it is personal information and you may not want to give it, which I respect but if possible, could you tell us about your case (ie which section you applied under) so that others waiting patiently may compare to their own case?

My own case is under section 4G for my daughter who was born in the UK in 2004 when her Thai mother was there with me (British born and bred) on a visit visa. (private hospital birth). I wasn't married to her mother which meant that the baby was born Thai even though she has a full UK birth certificate. If I had subsequently married her mother she would have become British of course, but unfortunately I didn't get around to doing that before her mother died leaving me as her sole parent and meaning that I have to stay with her in Thailand even though I would much rather be with her in my home country.

Hi g_barrie_g!

Mine was received on April 29th, and I believe paul29 was just a few days before me. I've been waiting now 10 weeks and there has been no money deducted, no acknowledgement via email or post, nothing. As you say, the form says it should be 2-4 weeks for acknowledgement. I contacted them after 4 and got a message saying they are hoping to acknowledge now within 6 weeks and to contact them after 8. I did that 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything from them. It sounds like from other forums there is a massive backlog because of people rushing applications in before the April 6th fee change and we're in for a long wait...

Father is English, mother is American. Applied from the US
Application Received April 29th, 2015
Acknowledgement: waiting
deduction of fees: waiting
approval: waiting

@ bfrenchfry,
It's good to know that somehow you have received a message from them, it shows/means that your application is underway and has been already entertained.

Correction: I sent my application on 25th June and was received on 29th June.

Unlike you guys, I have been waiting for only 3 days now but I was so worried I have searched online to find someone that is in the same situation and I came across this thread.

Speaking of backlog, my father contacted the UKVI back in April because we had some questions regarding the Biometric enrollment and Ceremonial oath. We have received a reply from them after 4 weeks. They had also mentioned that they were experiencing backlog because UKF is a new thing and they were still adjusting to the whole process.

Anyway I will wait for 4 weeks just to be sure and then I will contact them if there is still no acknowledgment from them.

How much have you stated on the payment slip? What category are you?
I am in 4G,
80 pounds.

Still has no deduction.

Nope, not good. I haven't received any "official" or unprompted correspondence. When filling out the UKF form, the guide says they aim for 2-4 weeks and if not to contact nationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk. When you email that you get an automatic response with FAQs, one of which said the below. I emailed that new address after 8 weeks and still haven't heard anything. Though from other forums it sounds like they tend to take 20 business days to resspond, if at all....

POST APPLICATION QUERIES
Will receipt of my application be acknowledged?

You should receive an acknowledgement within six weeks. If you have not received an acknowledgement within eight weeks please email us at: FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk giving your full name date of birth and address.

I am 4G for the 80pounds also. Correction I'm at 9 weeks not 10, and they still haven't deducted payment.
