Tier 5 to Spousal Visa

Hello!

So I've read many mixed things about switching from a Tier 5 visa to a spouse visa while in the UK, and I just wanted to clear it all up. I am from the USA on a Tier-5 visa for four months, and was wondering if it is possible to switch to a spousal visa while in the UK. I've heard that this can be possible for Tier 5 placements that are at least six months long, however in my case I will only be allowed for four. Can anyone elucidate this process and what possibilities I may have in this situation? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
