EEA Spouse waiting for BRP

Hi, i am a pakistani married to a german citizen. we both live and work in the UK. i have applied for a brp since July 2015. i received the letter of application on 18th August. I have since then given my biometrics and requested my documents back (which i have received already) however now a few months later i have not received my brp. my EU spouse visa is also expired and i cant travel out of the uk unless i have my brp.
does anybody have any idea of how long this process will take (i know they say 6 months)? Are there any reports of a backlog? Anyone i can contact to get an update because when you call them they dont give/have any information. Many thanks!

Judging by the posts in this forum, most people receive it after 5 months. There was one recently who got theirs after 7 months. If you are concerned you could give the Home Office a call and ask what's going on.
