Form AN for naturalisation - tax document?

Post by berco » Mon Dec 21, 2015 7:48 pm

Hi,

I'm applying for a citizenship with Form AN. I've been employed on a fixed term contract since Nov 2014 which concludes in the next two months. Prior to that, I've not been working but had to send in an empty self assessment tax return.

Under Section 7, For self employed applicants, it asks for the most recent HMRC SA statement of account.

Given my situation, do I need to send in my SA statement of account as well? (I do not have it to hand at the moment and am sending my application this week). I'm just wondering, although I am fully employed PAYE at the time of application, by the time they process my application, it could be several months later and my contract may have ended by then. But then surely this scenario is not uncommon?

Thanks

If you are employed on PAYE you are not self employed.

Have you been self employed or is it in the near future that you will be self employed? Your post is not very clear on your actual circumstances.

List employment details as they are at the time of application.

I was self employed until Oct 2014 and PAYE employed from Nov 2014. This PAYE employment will end in 2 months. However, I was not informed that I should stop sending my SA returns, so I carried on doing them anyway, filling nil returns.

By the way, with regards to the english language requirement, will a University transcript dated 2007 that states I have been studying xxx degree, suffice? Or will it need to be more recent?

thanks

See FAQs English Language Requirements for Naturalisation (click) and many threads on the forum about the same topic.

I would suggest you send your SA if you can. If you don't, they might write and ask for it which will cause a delay. They also not write, who knows with HO.

Thanks for the reply. I've had a read about the requirements. I've got a print out of the points based calculator and the score is 10. Only thing is I am a little concerned whether a university transcript letter dated 2007 will suffice - the handbook states that a transcript is fine but doesn't state how recent the transcript needs to be. Maybe I will start a new post about this..?

Please don't start a new topic/thread. Keep your questions in one thread, makes it easier. Multiple Posts (click)

Your transcript with your degree certificate and PBS calculator should be fine.
