Going to Italy, will the current schengen visa be ok?

Post by dhcp » Thu Oct 25, 2007 3:01 pm

Hi all,

I have had a read through other posts but a few did not make sense to me.

My wife who has limited leave to remain in the UK until it expires in MArch 2008 where she will reapply also has a schengen visa also that is due to expire on the 16th Dec 2007. She was given 6 months on that visa.

We went to amsterdam on this visa, goign to the netherlands embassy to get it, and now are travelling to Milan in a few weeks time.

Will this visa still be ok or does she still have to goto the italian embassy for a new one?

Looking at other posts say someone applying for a visa from france but then going Germany, they should goto France before or they may have trouble getting another Visa.

So on her visa, which she applied from the netherlands embassy she has been to that country, so is she free to go to the other states now?

I only ask as I do not want to risk Italy booting her out as she did not go to their embassy to get another visa.

Mt thoughts are once you have this visa, you can travel anywhere in the countries mention on the visa till it expires. Is that correct or do you have to have a min of "x" time left on the visa before you have to reapply.

Many thanks in advance

Bill

Your wife is perfectly fine to travel to Italy on her Dutch-issued Schengen visa.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
