EEA PR - Ducks I'm order

Post by Audiobalm » Thu Feb 18, 2016 10:22 pm

Hi there,

Hope this is ok to post and not terribly redundant.

I'm a Canadian, and my wife is a Swiss national and we moved to the uk in April 2011 and have been here in the uk since.

I got the relevant entrance visa first and then the 5 year EEA2 which expires in January 2017.

I have a few questions:

1. Is the EEA PR Form the correct one to be using in my situation?

2. Does my wife need to apply for permanent residence or is her Swiss passport sufficient before I make my application?

3. I had biometric information taken when I applied for my original Uk entrance visa. I assume this is still on record with a Home Office and submitting simply the date and location where it took place (In Zurich) should be sufficient?

4. The form asks to list the times I left the UK, is this even for small periods of time such as holiday or work travel? That seems like a long list.

Thanks this will really help me get started!

1) Yes.
Although not legal requirement to use latest (or any) form.

2) Not mandatory.
But if she has ambitions for privilege of citizenship she will need 'confirmation of PR' card too.

3) #fail
Assume that & innocent ducks may die.

Non-EEA have to re-enrol biometrics;
presumably HO want to crosscheck & verify you are still you.

4) Yes.
Checks that continuity of residence has been maintained.

Keep scans/copies of all docs & form submitted - for reference in case of issues.

No need to wait for RC expiry; apply on/after April;
(assuming you have good/unimpeachable documentary supporting evidence).
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.
