Applying for PR as unmarried partner of EEA national

Post by Nicho82 » Sun Mar 20, 2016 10:39 am

Hello,

Glad to have found this website to ask for some advice!
I am Canadian and have been living in the UK for over 5 years. I have been here as the extended family member of a EEA national (she is French).

I sent in my application for a PR last week. I have a few questions, any help or guidance greatly appreciated:
- is there any mail or phone number to contact the EEA application desk?
- how long does the application usually take? (i've seen between 2 and 6 months)
- I have sent my passport as well as my partner's and asked to retrieve them quickly as we both travel for work extensively, can the passports be checked and sent back?
- I will absolutely need to travel in 2 months time. My current resident card expires on May 20, and I absolutely need to travel end of may. Do they provide a document stating that my application is being processed and allowing me to travel in/out of the UK?

Thank you very much,
Nicholas

Applications for non-EEA PR card seem to be taking around 5-6 months at the moment.

You can request your passport back from the Home Office with their online form if it has been more than 10 working days since they received your application: https://www.gov.uk/visa-documents-returned

Thank you very much for your reply. That is very helpful.

If the application takes 5-6 months, my current residence card will expire in the meantime. Does the home office provide a document allowing me to travel while my application is being processed?
