Spouse Visa Query

Hi All,

I have a premium appointment in the mid of April for the spouse visa application. I am submitting my wife's self employment income to fulfill the income requirement.

Q: I understand that I require my wife's self assessment tax return document as proof of income. Does she also in addition need to have paid the tax prior to submitting my application (tax for the year 2015-16 - deadline to pay is Jan 2017) or will the former(self assessment tax return document) suffice?

When I did my Application in December, I had my limited company tax return - I had to show proof it was submitted to HMRC . This was in the form of an email if I remember rightly. I had not paid the tax at the time and actually have still not paid at it is due in June.

I assume it's the same for self employed - just need to show that hmrc have received the tax return.
