Schengen visa via Polish Embassy? (UK Tier 4 student)

Hi everyone! I am planning to visit my friend in Poland this December-January (about 10 days). Anybody had any experience applying for Schengen via Polish embassy? How long was the validity of the visa? Multiple or Single Entry? I am hoping to get a longer, multiple-entry visa than just the duration I am there. I am a holder of a UK Tier 4 residence valid for 5 years, and I am a full-funded PhD student. Thanks to anyone who can reply!!! :D :D :D
