Questions on Accommodation

I plan to apply for EC for my wife and 2 kids together with my application.

How many days of accommodation should be sufficient and after how many days from the date of EC application?

What should be an acceptable size of accommodation considering my children are 5 and 10 years old?

Can anyone give information of a suitable accommodation at reasonable cost which can suite my requirement around London?
