Spouse visa in the UK

Post by Scott0721 » Mon Sep 25, 2017 9:39 am

I married my Japanese fiancé in Japan at the local ward office in July 2017. We want to submit her VISA application as soon as possible, and would like to know what documents are required.

I've searched the forums already and understand that the following is necessary, however if anyone knows of anything else please let me know.

I have:
-Certificate of marriage
-Certificate of her English (UK life skills A1)
-Appendix 2
-6 months Payslips with bank statements
-A letter from work with my future secured
-Contract from landlord and letter saying she can live with me when she comes
-Statements from me and her how we met etc, friends and family statements.
-Photo collages of us and airplane tickets when I visited her in Japan
-2 passports. New Zealand and British. When I visited her in Japan I used my New Zealand one. Do I need to copy both passports?
I also renewed my British passport last month because it went through the washing machine making it unreadable (I would imagine immigration can see where and when I've been on it).

Lastly, I got a promotion from work with a small pay rise, but this comes with a new contract amendment under the same company so there is the mandatory 3 month probation. ( previously I worked 18 months in the old role and new one begins now. This also means I am moving house around the time of application process, as long as I have a letter from old landlord and new landlord saying we are both welcome to live in which ever in the future, will this affect our application?

Thank you in advance for any help or advice/ recommendations you can provide

Scott and Toshi

Do I have to proof my income??

Post by Scott0721 » Tue Oct 17, 2017 1:13 pm

Hi,
I am going to apply spouse visa soon.
I was wondering if I need to proof my income when I apply the visa.
I was living in the UK with my husband for 6 months with visitor visa and then I just came back to Japan for apply spouse visa. I haven't worked during this 6 months also I haven't started working in japan either.
Does anyone know if I still proof my income or show them about my bank certification ?? (My husband earning more than £18,600 per year.)

Thank you,

No you don't. Only your husband's income will be taken into account for your visa application from Japan.

Your income will not be counted towards income requirement. So you don't need to provide your personal pay slips and bank statements.

Your husband will need to provide original

6 months pay slips
6 month bank statements
Employment letter detailing designation, employment type, salary, duration employed
Employment contract
P60 (not required but can submit if he earned more than 18600 in previous tac year)

This all considering he's in employment with same employer for past 6 months.
Biometrics Karachi 04/08/17
Decision received 11/10 (Visa refused on subsisting relationship)
Acknowledgment 18/12/17
Deadline 02/04/18
Decision withdrawn 26/02/18
Decision overturned 29/03/18
PP submitted 3/4/18
Visa granted 9/4/18

How long can I stay in the UK with spouse visa??

Post by Scott0721 » Mon Oct 23, 2017 2:15 pm

Hi,
I am going to apply spouse visa from Japan.
There is a question How long do you intend to stay in the UK? on the application form.
Can I put 33 months ? or 30 months????
It is basically 2.5 years=30 moths, but somebody say 33 months....I really confused with that.
Could you please tell me which one is correct ....

Thank you.

In my understanding, 'permanently' would be the most appropriate answer, in the light of this visa type.

What about sponsor's contract of employment? This is not compulsory but Immigration Rules state that ECO may ask you to provide it.

Passport pictures are not required. Probably, letters from sponsor about your future plans as well. However, it does not harm to include those letters.

In my opinion, it is much better to include boarding passes rather than tickets. And plenty of pictures: wedding, with friends, family, travel, in different clothes/outfit/hairstyle, etc.

• Confidentiality agreement
What is this? It is not needed if it is an general/standard agreement between employer and employee. You need the employment contract.
Tenant receipt payment details

Not needed
• Registration Confirmation letter from NHS
• Group personal pension plan yearly statement
Why are you submitting these? Normal utility bills and council tax statement would be better.
• Family register information include information of birth (applicant)
You as the applicant are not required to submit a birth certificate.
• Invoice from car shop
Not needed.
