Holiday Visit

Post by Mercia » Thu Mar 20, 2008 5:13 pm

I'm planning to go to Germany next month to visit my sister. As far as I know, I'm allowed to stay for 90 days on my holiday visit without apply any visa. Let say if I want to extend my holiday, can I make a day trip to UK and re-enter Germany on the next day?

What visa do you have that allows that - sounds a little unusual.

Leaving and re-entering is not a good idea, may be deemed an attempt to settle.

Well, I'm from one of the country which do not require a visa for a stay of three months or less.

OK well you can't do what you are planning, you may get away with it, you may not. If you do, fine and good, if you don't, Europe may well be a closed door for you for the forseeable.

Why is getting a persons nationality out of them so hard? Are they embarrassed?

LOL LOL. hi Wanderer i would have thought the 90 days = 90 days in a year is it not

i dont think people should be embarrased of where they come from and i can understand why. sometimes people(ignorants) have some strange perceptions when u mention your country and then u get branded. we dont choose our countries.we just happen to be from there.

i say this cos ive been in the same position.

The rule is that you can enter the Schengen space for 90 days out of 180 days (three months in any six month period). This means that if you spend three months in Germany (and including any other Schengen country) you need to leave for another three months before being eligible to re-enter again (on a visa waiver). If you want to extend your stay after 90 days, you need to apply for a visa.

i think this operates on a fair use kind of policy, ie you can go for 3 months at a time but have to have a decent sized gap between each visit.
