'job offer' and 'work permit' issue

Post by zayad » Fri Dec 10, 2004 10:26 am

Hi Guy,

Here is my situation:

I applied for HSMP in Mid-June from Pakistan and recently got a job offer from an employer in UK. Now the employer wants to have me on board with in 2-3 weeks (or the offer might expire). Because I am not fully confident about my HSMP decision (might get asked for additional docs, delays in recieving decision letter via post or face rejection etc), we both have decided to apply for a 'work permit' while I fax the Job Offer to HSMP Team and we will avail whatever happens first.

Now suppose, I get the WP first and get HSMP approval while in UK, will I have to come back to Pakistan to re-apply for entry clearance or apply for FLR from UK.

Please advise, thanks.

You can apply for FLR in UK.No need to return back. :)

I would also suggest that once you are in the UK, you inform the HSMP team of your latest immigration status in the country and the change of address so that your documents and the status of the application can be mailed in country. This can be done by sending them a fax or an email address qouting the reference number alloted to your application.

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated.

Considering I get entry clearance for the 'work permit', and before I have flown to UK I also recieve HSMP decision letter (with positive result). Will it be possible that I take the decision letter with me to UK and apply for FLR from there or I will have to re-apply for EC in PK? In my case, time is the real essence. If I wait for EC again in PK, I will have to wait a bit longer because of Christmas holidays and I might lose the job offer.

Thanks once again!

They are still processing the last week of May and at the rate they are going it looks unlikely that they will process mid June by Christmas. They seem to be progressing 3 days worth every week on an average.

ND, I expect to recieve WP next week and then EC just before Christmas. I don't expect I will have HSMP decision letter before Christmas even in an ideal situation. I have heard that British embassy in PK will be closed for 10 days for Christmas and I have to fly in first week Jan. Anyway, lets see how things go on!
