FLR for my wife from Japan

Post by kobered » Tue Apr 22, 2008 12:51 pm

Hi all,

I'm about to get married and my wife will be applying for FLR(M) with an interview at the Croydon office. She is Japanese and has been in the UK for 1 year on a student visa. This is her 2nd time in the UK after a previous 1yr student visa.

We have prepared bank statements etc. But the main worry I have about finances - of course!

My wife-to-be works part-time earning about £400 p/m.

I recently left my full-time job (bad timing) where I was earning £28k. I have bank statements showing £4,000 in savings and a separate £5,000 ISA, but I have NO current income. I am starting a career as a writer and have a contract with an agent, although of course there is no wage as such.

We currently live with my mother and pay a £70 per week contribution towards food/bills etc.

I'm quite comfortable that we have enough money and that I will be earning soon. Also, my wife will be able to work full time. But will they see it this way?

Any advice would be great. Anyone know of any good sources for info on the FLR application and interview in Croydon?
