HSMP visa extension for family members

Post by vijayb » Sat Apr 26, 2008 7:01 pm

I got my HSMP visa stamped in Mumbai in July 2006.
I got job offer from UK in Nov 2006 and I came to UK in Jan 2007.

My family (wife & daughter) joined me in UK in May 2007.

I will complete my first two years of HSMP Visa on 31 July 2008.
I will apply for extension (for next 3 years) in June 2008.

My daughter is sixteen years old and is studying in AS school level in UK. In June 2008, I will apply for her & my wife's visa extension for 3 years (till July 2011) under HSMP 'Dependant' category along with my application.

I want to know..

1) What will happen to my daughter's HSMP 'Dependant' status after she becomes 18 yrs old in July 2009.

2) After completion of A level in school, my daughter will join University in UK for her degree course in Sept 2009. University Degree course will be over after three years (Year 2012). After July 2011 (i.e. on completion of 3 years HSMP extension) under what category she will be allowed to stay in UK till she completes her University Degree course (till July 2012).

Please advise me.

Thank you.
Vijay

When your daughter over 18, if she's still dependent on you and is not leading an independent life, etc., then she may still continue to be your dependant. However, when applying for settlement at the same time as you, she would also have to satisfy the Knowledge of language and life in the United Kingdom and fill in her own application form (319J).
