Got EEA Family Permit - What Next?

Post by farazkhan » Sun Apr 27, 2008 3:14 pm

Hi

I am an Indian citizen who is now in the UK. I got a six month EEA family permit as a Spouse of a Slovakian citizen who is Settled in the UK for more than 4 years.

What happens next? Does she apply for a Permanent Residency & then I apply for an extension of my visa with her PR papers? I'm a little confused & want to plan early. My EEA FP expires 30/09/2008 but I want to have eveything ready.

Your advice will be much appreciated. If more information is needed for you to understand the case, please drop me a line...

You should apply for a Residence Card as soon as possible using form EEA2. Unfortunately, processing the application usually takes nearly 6 months (the legal maximum), and the Home Office would like to keep for passport for this time. But you can ask for the passport to be sent back if you need it, e.g. if you want to travel.
