Premium service refund/mistaken date

Post by pbaobab » Sat Aug 04, 2018 6:23 pm

Hello there,

I was planning to use the Premium service in Croydon, to renew my FLR(M). I paid for the IHS, the application and appointment fee.

But when I was completing my application, I realised that it takes place until 20 days after my current visa expires. So I cancelled the appointment, because the date would be too late for me anyway, and because technically I can still send all my documents by post.

But what I don't know, is if I should pay for the Health Surcharge and application again, or wait until I get a refund. I wrote to the refund email address from the FCO, but got an automated response where they say that it can take up to 10 working days for a response and up to 4 weeks for a refund.

I am stressing a lot, but now I don't know if to wait until I get refunded (I am in a countdown now), and also, my wallet/card is bleeding, and we have other things to pay.

Could anyone enlighten me, if I should pay for things all over again and send my documents by post right away, and/or if it doesn't take that long for them to reply/refund.

Thank you in advance for any insight.

As it’ll be a new application by post you have to pay the application fee + IHS. You’ll save some money as you won’t paying for a PSC appointment.
My comments do not constitute immigration advice, if in doubt consult an immigration adviser/solicitor

Thanks for your promt response.

Then it will be a whole new application/IHS etc.
I guess I can send the application, and pay for these again.

I guess this will teach me a lesson to pay attention to dates before I rush. And I will have to wait for the refund, for whenever it is done.

My friend is in the same boat but because of urgency another application was made and booked for a week later. This happened last week.

Will update this post when he gets word on a refund. But looking at 4 weeks as per response email from PSC refunds.

Borrow some money for the one day service. Unless you're happy to wait a few months for a response from UKVI

Husband's timeline - overstayer 11 yrs
08/16 - FLR (FP) Partner, refused 02/18, 03/18 - JR permission refused with merit
08/18 - FLR FP (Partner) PSC - Approved
07/20 - FLR FP to FLR M Switch - Approved, 03/23 FLR M Ext Approved.
