Concerned about our visa applciation

Post by SDBradfo » Fri Dec 21, 2018 10:11 am

Hello my partner and I recently got a civil partnership and he’s currently in the process of applying for the Family Visa online. His current visa is a Tier 5 Youth Mobility.

Here’s a couple of concerns I have and was hoping somebody could help

1. I need to provide 12m statement which I have from my bank. The only problem with this is that for 8m of it it’s addressed to my mum's house. Because I was moving around a lot, I never changed the address with my bank. Is this going to cause issues with us?

2. We’re providing our “tenancy agreement” because it asks for it but we both have separate agreements with the landlord and our landlord is also not very organised and they aren’t even signed. Will this cause issues also?

3. There's a question about providing Council Tax bill and there's a message underneath that says "even if you don't plan on submitting your council tax bill, you must still tick the box to demonstrate you understand this" - is that some kind of trick question?

4. I read that we must include a property inspection report but the application has not asked us anything about that?

5. Should we include a cover letter? Would it be from myself, partner or both of us?

Does anybody know if there’s anything else we need to be concerned about?

Thank you

1. Why do you need 12 months statements?? Are you self employed or have you had more than one job in a short space of time? No issue with address, you can simply explain briefly in a covering letter. Alternatively, your partner can use only their income and documents if they meet the financial requirement.

2. Do you live in share accommodation? Two separate 'room lodgers' might be considered 'room mates' rather than a genuine relationship. If you are in shared accommodation (ie HMO), you will also need a property inspection report to prove that the property is not overcrowded

3. As we don't have access to the online forms, what is the exact question it asks??

4. If you live in a property with other non related people, yes you need a property inspection report as stated above in #2

5. What do you need to say that the form doesn't ask??

When does your partners current visa expire??

When you say civil partnership, presumably you are a same sex couple??

I've had more than one job. My partner unfortunately doesn't mean the requirements but the online application is requesting 12 months statement for him also?

2. Do you live in share accommodation? Two separate 'room lodgers' might be considered 'room mates' rather than a genuine relationship. If you are in shared accommodation (ie HMO), you will also need a property inspection report to prove that the property is not overcrowded

It's shared, 4 rooms but 4 separate leases. We lease 2 rooms and one is the bedroom, the other the lounge. At what point will we be asked for this as the online application doesn't ask for it yet?

3. As we don't have access to the online forms, what is the exact question it asks??

It's not a question it's in the declaration. It says I declare to include Council Tax bill (we don't have this as it's in landlord's name, but it does come out my bank) and underneath it says "you must check this box even if you don't intend to send the Council Tax bill to show that you have understood this

4. If you live in a property with other non related people, yes you need a property inspection report as stated above in #2

5. What do you need to say that the form doesn't ask??
Well the form doesn't ask about the home inspection report?

When does your partners current visa expire??
12th January

When you say civil partnership, presumably you are a same sex couple??
Yes same sex, sorry.
Thanks for your answer. I have responded in yellow above.
