Wife in UK on Tourist Visa, options to extend visa?

Hello there,

I have recently arrived back in the UK after living in China for a year. My wife and newborn son (British Citizen but born in China) have come back with me. My wife is currently on a 6 month Tourist Visa. As we have only recently come back, I am currently searching for a job and my savings don't cover the Spouse Visa requirements.

My question is what could be done to extend my wife's stay in the UK while I get a job and can get the spouse visa? I was told that it is possible to extend a visa while a mother is breastfeeding as it would be against the human rights of the child, is this the case?
