NAME CHANGE BRP Biometrics Appointment

Post by heather85 » Wed Jan 30, 2019 6:07 pm

My biometrics letter came today, addressed to my maiden name (name on my current BRP, but I've applied to update it to my married name).

Am I right in assuming that when I attend the Biometrics appointment, I need to give my married signature as thats what will appear on my new BRP?

I assume the letter tells you what tod o if the information is not correct. Have you changed your name legally via deed poll ?

No, not by deed poll but as a result of marriage so have sent in my marriage certificate as a supporting document.

The information on my letter is correct as it has my date of birth and correct maiden name, but as it's just a standard letter it doesn't give specific details on changing the name on my BRP (which I have applied to do). I assume I sign my new signature with my married name as that's what will appear on the BRP card?

I have emailed the address on the letter to query it and received an automated reply saying that I will get a reply within 21 days. However in fine print at the end of the email it also says my email will be deleted and I won't receive a reply!!

The email also states that the info on the barcode letter will reflect my current passport, but my current (brand new) passport is in my married name and the letter is addressed to my maiden name! I have submitted both passports with my application.

I am so confused about what to do. I'm hoping to enroll biometrics on Saturday. Any help or advice before then would be hugely appreciated. Is there anyone at UKVI that I can call to ask about this tomorrow?

So I've re-read the automated email and thinks this answers my questions:

Application for No Time Limit / Biometric Replacement Card

Please be aware if you have had a previous Home Office record, the details on your enrolment letter will reflect this record. Your requested personal details have been recorded and a caseworker will consider whether these can be amended later in the consideration process.

I am still assuming that I provide my married signature, though.

I suggest to do your Biometrics and write a letter to the case worker asking for your married name for your BRP
