I am in the process of applying for citizenship under UKM as a result of the Romein case. My grandfather was born in the UK and my mother was born in SA. I am fairl confident that I am eligible and have decided to do the application without paying an agency but there is one question on the online application form which I am unsure how to answer and am hoping someone can help.
Although my mother had an automatic right to citizenship by descent, she only applied for and received a passport a few years ago (after I was born). I have filled in her nationality as British but the online form asks if she held a different nationality previously. If I say yes, the next question is: what was her nationality at the time of your birth? I am not sure whether to say SA or British? The truth is she would have always held dual (even though passport was issued later) but online application doesn’t allow me to record both.
Is it a problem that she didn’t hold a passport at the time I was born even though she had an automatic right to citizenship as a result of her father being born in the UK?
Any help appreciated

Thanks
