Looking for some assistance - struggling to find information online as to whether you have the right to purchase property in the UK on a Tier 2 General sponsorship visa (3 year initial term)
Can anyone please shed some light or point me in the direction of information?

Yes you can. You might not get the best mortgage deal though.

Can't believe any bank would offer anywhere close to a decent mortgage tough.

Yes, you can purchase a property either by mortgage or by cash. This is not any problem in term of immigration rules.

Halifax bank is lenient in their rules to offer mortgage to immigrants (I got mortgage with good deal successfully through this bank in past). If you have high credit score and good salary, you should be fine.
