Hi just wondering if it's possible for my step father to sponsor my girlfriend on a visitor visa? I've just returned to the UK and I don't think I'd have the funds in my account to be a sponsor at the moment, I've also just started in a new job. My gf is from the Philippines if it makes any difference.
The only thing that makes me think this would be an issue is the fact they've never met. Also he's retired but has a good bit in savings and a healthy pension, I know for a fact what he has in savings is more than enough to be a sponsor. I'll be living at their place temporarily for a few months until i find a flat so that will also be the address on the visa sponsor form.
What would be the best approach for applying in this way do you think? Put him as the main sponsor but mention me on there also?
Any advice much appreciated

Your step father can sponsor your girlfriend, but most importantly what documented evidence will she submit of strong ties to her home country in order to convince the Entry Clearance Officer that she won't overstay her visa in the UK
The ECO will want to see that she is financially self-sufficient and has stronger reasons to return home than she has to remain with you in the UK. Boyfriend/girlfriend relationships always come under close scrutiny when a visitor visa application is being assessed.

Thank you very much for your swift reply, that's music to my ears thanks.
Regarding her ties to Philippines she has a child there, but she's currently working in the Maldives at a resort there and she will be leaving that job to come and visit with me. Do you think the ECO will regard her child as a strong tie to Philippines or are they more looking for financial ties ?
Stupid question but when I fill out the sponsorship form I presume I just put all my step fathers details on there and attach a note explaining she is my girlfriend? And state will be living with us at my step fathers place which he owns?
Thanks

If she isn't currently caring for her child and has been working in a different country, this may not carry much weight. Without a job to return to and no evidence of financial self-sufficiency, you are likely to be facing something of a challenge.

Your step father needs to complete the sponsorship form and he should state the reason for your girlfriend's visit. How long is she intending to stay?
Thanks

Thanks again. she supports the child in the sense that she sends money back home to her mother.
We are intending to go back to Philippines after she's visited here, do you think it would help if she has a job offer there in Philippines that woud could perhaps attach evidence of on the application?
From what I've gathered so far online it's better to apply for a 3 month visitor visa for our first application as i've heard 6 months is more likely to be declined?
