Tier 2 Visa Extention in July

Post by pradeepk » Wed Feb 13, 2019 2:07 am

Hello everyone ,
I have Tier 2 General VISA extension in July as I will be completing 3 yrs then .I have few questions for which I need clarification .
1) Will the next extension be for 3 yrs or 2 yrs ?
2) If I apply in the month of May (2 months in advance ) and if it is extended for 2 yrs ,I will fall short of few months (to complete 5 yrs) for ILR application . How to tackle this ? Or is it extended for 3 yrs ?
3)If I apply just few weeks in advance and for some reason my Extension gets delayed or rejected and then I re-apply again , will I be still able to continue to stay and work in UK ? Is there any limit to the number of months I can stay ?

Could you please answer my questions if you have information about this ?

Thanks
Pradeep

1. Depends on the length of the CoS your sponsors issues.

2. Yes you will so best apply accordingly to avoid a shortfall later on. Length of visa depends on length of Cos. If Cos is 2 years it is a 2 year visa etc. Note that IHS fees have doubled.

3. You would likely get option of Admin review and could also make a new app within 14 days. Yes you can stay while you wait, whether you can work on not depends.

You need to start your own thread and ask questions instead of tagging on to others.

1. Depends on your CoS , however, ask employer to go for 3 yrs, i.e work end date, so you can get 3 yrs extension.

2. See above

3. As long as you apply in time you can continue to work. But if you apply for 3 yrs extension then you can avoid stress and this scenario.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.
