Hi, Anyone have an idea when the new Employment Permit Scheme for non-EEA students will be introduce ? Its planned to Summer 2008 but have no idea exactly when and what will it be exactly.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE) has recently announced that, following its commitment under the Towards 2016 Social Partnership Agreement, a scheme will be introduced to make the employment of non–EEA students in Ireland subject to an employment permit. It is intended that the scheme will come into operation during summer 2008. DETE is currently going through a consultation processes with the Social Partners and various stakeholders regarding this scheme. MRCI met with DETE representatives on 24th April to discuss the proposed scheme, and following this meeting, submitted written recommendations on the implementation of the scheme
