Family visitor bank statements enquiry

Post by VirtualWaver » Thu Apr 25, 2019 6:13 pm

Dear All,

I would like to invite my mother so that she could visit us for 2 weeks in summer.

I want to sponsor her trip and cover all the expenses. She will stay in our house.

I have 4 questions regarding this please:

1. I understand that I will need to submit my bank statement for the last 6 months to show that I have enough funds to cover her trip (and my own expenses). Does my wife need to submit her statements and letter from employer too or my ones alone will be enough?

2. What is the minimum balance I need to demonstrate (not counting ticket price)?

3. Does that balance need to be constant for the last 6 months or it is ok that in some days it was, for example, 2000 pounds, in some other days - 300 pounds, in some others - negative but within overdraft, etc?

4. Can I scan all the supporting documents (statements, employer letter, invitation letter, etc) and send the scanned version to my mom or it has to be originals?

Thanks a lot!

Hi, if your bank account shows you are comfortable enough to cover your family expenses and have additional people to cover for their visit, that would be enough. If your wife can get additional documents that would be good.

Regarding sending documents you could actually upload your supporting document online for as long as you have your guest’s online application information. But as it is, you can also just email them to your guest and they could take it along with them.

This is just based on personal experience.

Thanks a lot, MochiPet,

By saying "comfortable enough" you mean my salary or savings?

My salary is quite good, but I don't keep savings on my current account so it sometimes has negative balance, sometimes positive - depends. Do you think this will be an issue? Thanks.

What evidence of strong ties to home country (social, family, employment, pension, property etc) will your mother submit? Her evidence is far more important than your evidence.
