Tier 2 PBS dependent visa extension

Hi
I have ILR and my partner has applied for PBS dependent visa extension. He has applied online and sent all the supporting documents (passport, BRP, bank statement) along with the application to UKBA by post last week. we then realized the system is now changed that he has to take all documents for his biometric appointment. Can someone help me with this please? I phoned UKBA helpline this morning, the advisor said this has two options, either to send the documents to UKBA along with the application or take the documents to biometric appointment. I forgot to check with the advisor if I still have to upload the documents to sopra website, so I phoned them again and the other advisor said we should take the documents for the appointment as far as she is aware. I am so confused now and need some help with this. My partner submitted his application and sent the documents on 24 May and he has biometric appointment on 21 Jun.
I need clarification for the below,
1. Can my partner go for the appointment without the original documents as UKBA already got the documents to check?
2. Do UKBA verify documents as we have sent it to them directly.
3. Should we have to request UKBA to return all documents and take it for the appointment? if so how to request to return all documents.
