Tier 2 Change of Employment Query

Hi guys,

I have been sponsored by my current employer on Tier 2 General since 2015.

Recently I found a new company who went through the whole RLMT for me and issued a new CoS. I submitted my application at the core centre in Croydon and received an email on 18/07/2019 that it was approved. The provisional start date on the visa/CoS is not until 23/09/2019.

When I handed in my notice to my current employer last week, they made quite an attractive counter offer trying to keep me.

Therefore my question is, if I decided to stay with my current employer, would they have to repeat the whole process again from RLMT, etc? Or would it simply be cancelling the visa/CoS with the new company?

Has anyone been in a similar situation before?
