2 years visitor visa documents

Post by Davec » Mon Jul 29, 2019 8:53 am

My wife is shortly to apply for a 2 years visitor visa from outside the EEA/EU. To visit myself, who lives in the UK. She has already received a 6 months visitor visa and a spouse visa, which she did not use. Instead, she needs to stay with her family and friends in her home country.

My questions for this 2 years visitor visa. The UKVI want documents from me (as her UK sponsor) to show that I have the money to support her for her visits to the UK. And that there is somewhere for her to stay. I have not yet made a complete list of documents that I need to supply.

In any event, do these supporting documents from myself (her sponsor) have to be the original documents, and not just copies? Do they have to be stamped and signed by a bank official or a local solicitor for example to show they are genuine and legal? And how old do these supporting documents have to be (eg only a month old) to be acceptable?

Thanks.

As advised previously, your wife risks a visitor visa refusal due to her previous spouse visa held and intention to settle in the UK.

I'm not sure you understand. This was not advice I receive from a professional immigration adviser. He said that it is not that uncommon for people with a spouse visa to have second thoughts. Maybe not on these forums, but in his professional experience. He did not think it would be a problem if the reasons were explained in the visitor visa form.

He recommended I apply after her spouse visa ends for a 2 years visitor visa. They can reduce it to 6 months if there is something they are unhappy with. I can explain why she needs to return home, and why she needs to come here.

So to return us to the original question. Do these supporting documents need to be legalised and certified please?

Thank you.
